Day 1: Greetings & fittings / Distance travelled: Less than 10km

Your adventure begins in the charming city of Avignon, where you’ll meet your friendly E-Trike Tours representative. Your hotel pick up will bring you to the E-Trike Tours headquarters for a comprehensive tour briefing, fitting and familiarisation with your E-Trike, you’ll be ready to hit the streets and explore the city at your own pace.

As you cruise through Avignon’s historic centre, the scent of lavender and the melodic hum of locals conversing in their charming Provençal accent will envelop you. Avignon effortlessly blends history, culture, and a dash of that irresistible French flair. This UNESCO-listed historic site is surrounded by ancient walls that once sheltered the popes during the 14th century.

Day 2: Avignon to Arles / Distance travelled: 45km

It’s your first full day of riding! Get ready for a day steeped in history and charm as you weave through picturesque villages nestled along the Rhône River aboard your E-Trike.

Your first stop is Barbentane, a village frozen in time where the magnificent 12th-century castle, the Château de Barbentane, stands sentinel. Take a moment to explore the village square, soak in the atmosphere, and perhaps pick up a souvenir from a local artisan.

Next, your journey continues to Graveson, a charming Provençal haven. Meander through narrow streets adorned with colourful facades, and succumb to the allure of a refreshing stop at a local café.

Prepare to be awestruck by the imposing Château de Tarascon in the next village. This mediaeval fortress, perched majestically on the banks of the Rhône, beckons exploration. Take a tour and immerse yourself in its rich history.

Crossing the bridge, you’ll enter Beaucaire. Explore its medieval architecture including a majestic castle and a stunning church. Stroll through the old town, soak up the vibrant atmosphere, and perhaps enjoy a leisurely walk along the quays.

As Day 2 nears its end, the iconic Roman amphitheatre of Arles will rise on the horizon. Immerse yourself in the rich history of this ancient city, a favourite subject of the legendary Vincent Van Gogh. Explore the amphitheatre, the Roman theatre, and the bustling Place du Forum, and let the spirit of antiquity transport you back in time.


 

Day 3: Arles to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence / Distance travelled: 35km

After leaving Arles, embark on an art-inspired adventure steeped in history. Your first stop is the ancient Roman necropolis of Alyscamps, a mystical site that captured the imagination of Vincent Van Gogh. His vibrant paintings, including “Alley at the Alyscamps”, immortalised this poignant landmark.

Consider a detour to the majestic Montmajour Abbey, where Van Gogh’s brushstrokes brought the surrounding landscape to life. Explore the abbey grounds and soak in the panoramic views.

And so, you return to Avignon. After you have returned your now beloved E-Trike, and have been transferred to your hotel, Avignon is all yours again. Spend your final evening exploring hidden alleys, savouring delectable Provençal cuisine, or simply watching the world go by at a cafe.
